How WhaleSays Uses Polymarket Data

WhaleSays reads public data from Polymarket, filters it with the rules below, and shows the result on our pages. This page explains where the data comes from, how often it refreshes, what our terms mean, and what the data cannot tell you.

Data sources

  • Gamma API for events, markets and the odds shown on event pages.
  • Data API for trades, leaderboards and trader positions.
  • CLOB API for price history behind the probability charts.

Refresh intervals

  • Whale feed: about every minute.
  • Event odds: every few minutes.
  • Leaderboards and trader profiles: about every hour.

Definitions

  • Whale trade: a single trade worth $10,000 or more.
  • Hidden prices: trades priced above 97% or below 3% are hidden from the signal feeds. Prices that extreme are usually cash-outs of markets that have effectively been decided, not new calls.
  • Probability: the share price. A share priced at $0.24 implies a 24% probability for that outcome.
  • 24h change: the change in probability over 24 hours, measured in percentage points. A move from 40% to 45% is +5 points, not +12.5%.
  • Profit: Polymarket's leaderboard figure. Weekly and monthly profit is the change in account value, including open positions at current prices. All-time profit counts realized results only.
  • Volume: shares bought and sold by a trader, counting both sides of each trade, as Polymarket reports it. It is a share count, not a dollar amount.

Limitations

  • Data can lag. A trade or price may appear on our pages after the market has already moved.
  • We do not verify identities. We show wallet addresses and the names traders set on Polymarket. We cannot confirm who controls a wallet or whether a trader is who they say they are.
  • A large trade is not a recommendation. Whales are sometimes wrong, and a single trade says little about the next one.

The whale feed, trader leaderboard and event odds all follow these rules. Learn more about WhaleSays.
