Polymarket NBA: live game odds, spreads and championship futures

By WhaleSays Editorial · Updated · 7 min read

An NBA game on Polymarket is a market where you trade shares in each team with other people, not with a bookmaker. A share pays $1 if its team wins, so the price in cents is also the chance: 62¢ is a 62% chance, −163 in American odds and 1.61 in decimal odds. The NBA announced a partnership with Kalshi and Polymarket, which Yahoo Sports reported on 26 October 2026, naming both a “Preferred Prediction Market Exchange”.

How an NBA game is laid out on Polymarket

A sportsbook shows an NBA game as a small card: moneyline, spread and total. Polymarket holds the same game as one event with many separate markets, each one a question with two answers. The moneyline is the question “who wins 76ers vs. Pistons”, with one share for each team. A winning share pays $1, a losing share pays $0, and you can sell yours to another trader at any time before the game ends.

Spreads and totals come as a ladder, one market per line. In the 76ers vs. Pistons event we read on 3 November 2026, the spread markets ran from −1.5 through −2.5, −3.5 and further, and the totals included lines such as 217.5 and 219.5. A spread market pits one team, carrying that handicap, against the other team. A total pits Over against Under. You choose the line you want instead of taking the one a bookmaker posts, and every line has its own price and its own depth.

Beyond those three bets we saw markets on which team scores first, whether the total score is odd or even, whether the game goes to overtime, and which team reaches 10, 20 or 30 points first. Some games also carried player markets for points, rebounds and assists. Not every game has every market, so check the event page before you plan around one.

Depth matters more than the number of markets. In that game the moneyline had traded about $19K, while individual spread and total lines had traded from nothing to a few hundred dollars each. A thin market has a wider gap between the price you pay to buy and the price you get to sell, and that gap is a cost on top of any fee. The list above shows how much each game has traded so far.

What the NBA market rules say

Every Polymarket market has a rules text, and it settles the edge cases the way a sportsbook's house rules do. These points come from the market rules of the 76ers vs. Pistons game markets (4 November 2026), summarised in our words. The live quotes below them are read from the markets listed above.

  • Overtime counts. The moneyline rules say the result is decided on the final score including any overtime periods.
  • No result means 50-50. If the game is canceled, does not start by a cut-off two days after the scheduled date (11:59 PM ET), or is abandoned with no official result, the market resolves 50-50. Polymarket's resolution docs say a 50-50 resolution redeems every share at $0.50, whichever team you held.
  • Spreads. “Spread: Pistons (−1.5)” resolves to the Pistons if they win by 2 or more points, and to the other team otherwise. The lines we saw all end in .5, so there is no push.
  • Totals. A line of 219.5 resolves Over if the two teams score 220 or more points together, and Under otherwise.

Your sportsbook has its own rules for overtime, abandoned games and player props. Read both before you compare a price on one with a price on the other.

Rules text as Polymarket publishes it on today's upcoming NBA games, quoted from the market's own description. It is the rules text, not our summary.

Market rules for “Bucks vs. Celtics”

“If the game is canceled, does not start by Friday, November 6, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or is abandoned with no official result by that time, this market will resolve 50-50.”

“The result will be determined based on the final score including any overtime periods.”

Market rules for “Spread: Celtics (-14.5)” (Bucks vs. Celtics)

“This market will resolve to "Celtics" if the Celtics win the game by 15 or more points.”

“If the game ends in a tie, this market will resolve to "Bucks".”

What a −110 spread bet costs against a 50¢ share

A common US sportsbook price for a point spread or a total is −110 on both sides: risk $110 to win $100. That hides a margin. The two sides' chances add up to 104.76%, so a book that takes equal money on both sides keeps about 4.55% of what is staked. On Polymarket the equivalent market would sit at 50¢ a side, and instead of a margin you pay a taker fee when you buy at the price on offer: shares × 0.05 × price × (1 − price). A resting limit order that someone else fills pays no fee.

How you betYou put inYou get back if rightProfit if rightBreak-even win rate

Polymarket, buy now at 50¢$102.50$200$97.5051.25%
Polymarket, limit order at 50¢$100$200$10050%

Polymarket’s market data lists a taker fee rate of 0.05 on the NBA games above. At 50¢ that fee is 2.5% of your trade, and it shrinks as the price moves away from 50¢: 1.9% at 62¢ and 1.5% at 70¢.

The comparison is tidier than real life. A made-up 50¢ market has no gap between the buy and sell price, and a real one does, which costs something too. Neither side is cheaper everywhere, so measure the exact bet. The Polymarket odds converter turns your bookmaker's line into a Polymarket price and takes the margin out, and Polymarket vs sportsbooks shows the method step by step.

NBA futures: the title race and season awards

Season-long markets work like a game market: each team or player is a Yes/No share that pays $1 if it comes true. Our championship page tracks the title race and the rules that settle it, and the markets below were open at the last refresh.

If a sportsbook has cut your NBA limits

Sportsbooks set their own limits and can restrict individual accounts. Polymarket's docs say its order book has no trading size limits. The catch is depth: an order that is large next to the volume a game has traded will move the price against you before it is filled. Our guide to what to do when a sportsbook limits your account covers the options, including exchanges other than Polymarket, and the sports leaderboard shows how the biggest winners on the platform are doing. Neither is a promise that you will win; most traders lose.

Who wins at sports on Polymarket

Polymarket's sports leaderboard covers every sport together, not just NBA. Its top sports trader over the last 30 days, BreakTheBank, made $6.7M. Leaderboards show the survivors: a Wall Street Journal analysis published in May 2026 found that 67% of Polymarket's profits went to 0.1% of accounts, so most traders earn far less and many lose money. See the Polymarket sports leaderboard for the ranking by day, week, month and all time, and the payout calculator for what a trade at any price would return.

Start small and read the rules first

A $20 trade is enough to learn how the order screen, the fee and the sell button work. Read the market rules before you buy, and only trade money you can afford to lose.

Frequently asked questions

Does Polymarket have NBA betting?
Yes, in the form of trading. Polymarket lists NBA games as markets with a share for each team, plus season-long markets such as the championship and MVP. You trade with other users rather than a bookmaker, and a share pays $1 if it is right. Whether you can open an account depends on your country.
How do I read a Polymarket NBA price as American odds?
The price in cents is the chance, and it converts to any odds format. A 62¢ price is −163 in American odds and 1.61 in decimal. A 38¢ price is +163 and 2.63. Our odds converter does the sums for any price.
Does overtime count in a Polymarket NBA market?
In the NBA game markets we read on 3 November 2026 (76ers vs. Pistons), the moneyline rules say the result is decided on the final score including any overtime periods. Rules can differ by market, so read the rules text on the market you trade.
Does Polymarket have point spreads and totals?
Yes. Spreads and totals are listed as a ladder of lines, each its own market, such as a spread of −1.5 or a total of 219.5 points. Some games also list team to score first, odd or even score, overtime, and player points, rebounds and assists. Depth varies a lot between lines.
What is the fee on Polymarket NBA markets?
Takers pay shares × fee rate × price × (1 − price). Polymarket's market data lists a rate of 0.05 on current NBA games. At 50¢ that is 2.5% of the trade. Limit orders that wait to be filled pay no fee.
Can I bet on the NBA with Polymarket from the US?
Not on polymarket.com, the site our links open: it is closed to new trades in the United States, whatever you may have read about the NBA partnership. Polymarket runs a separate CFTC-regulated app for US customers, Polymarket US, with its own markets, terms and fees. Outside the US, check our availability page for your country and read your local rules.
Will Polymarket limit me if I win?
Polymarket's docs say its order book has no trading size limits, and sportsbooks set their own limits and can restrict accounts. Large orders on Polymarket can still move the price, so depth matters. We have no information about how Polymarket treats any individual account beyond its published terms.
